Bordeaux are ready to make a bid for Napoli defender Henrique, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the Ligue 1 outfit want to buy the 28 year-old and will offer around €3 million to secure him.

Henrique’s future at Napoli is uncertain following the arrival of Head Coach Maurizio Sarri from Empoli.

The incoming tactician has been working to reshape his squad and a number of players are expected to depart before the summer transfer window closes.

Henrique, along with midfielders Jonathan de Guzmán and Gökhan Inler, plus full-back Faouzi Ghoulam, is believed to be amongst those who could move on.

His versatility – he’s primarily a centre-back, but can cover at full-back and as a holding midfielder – makes him a good option for Sarri, but his exacting approach means Henrique may not fit his philosophy.

The Brazil international – capped six times since debuting in 2008 – has a contract until June 2017, but if he was sold to Bordeaux for the figures suggested, then Napoli would recoup a large proportion of the reported €4 million they spent on signing him from Palmeiras in January 2014.

For Henrique, a switch to Ligue 1 would give him the chance to play more regularly. Last season, he featured just 21 times in all competitions and has largely been a squad player during his time at Napoli.
