Fluminense striker Fred has given the team a boost by returning to training from a groin injury he suffered last week.

The 31 year old was forced to sit out his side’s game against Avai which ended in a shock 1-0 defeat. Fluminense fell behind to an Andre Lima strike in the sixth minute and couldn’t breach a stubborn Avai defence from then on.

Fluminense manager Enderson Moreira will know that Fred could have provided the breakthrough and will be delighted to be able to unleash him against Internacional on Thursday. Osvaldo is also set to return after also being out with a groin injury.

Fluminense fans will be excited to see how Fred links up with Ronaldinho. The 35 year old was impressive against Avai and there is a feeling that the two could play off each other and strike a golden partnership.
