Roma are pushing to secure Barcelona’s Adriano and Torino wing-back Bruno Peres, according to reports.
The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the two Brazilians are at the top of a list of full-backs that the Serie A outfit are considering, as they look to bring in two defenders before the summer transfer window closes.
Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah and Manchester City forward Edin Džeko have already been signed to complete the attack, while Wojciech Szczęsny has arrived on loan from Arsenal to compete with Morgan De Sanctis for a goalkeeper berth.
With those areas of the team now satisfactory, attention has been switched to the defence.
Bruno Peres has long been a target for Roma, who are believed to be competing with Porto to secure him. The Giallorossi have already submitted a significant bid and are seemingly awaiting developments to proceed.
Their move for Adriano is more complicated. The lure of more regular first-team football is an attraction for the 30 year-old, but Barcelona are believed to have offered him an contract extension to stay.
He has been with the club since arriving from Sevilla for a reported fee of €9.5 million in July 2010 and won 12 major honours, while Barça’s inability to replace him due to a transfer ban makes his position in the squad even more valuable.
With the possibility of securing Adriano uncertain at this stage, Roma are also looking at Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lucas Digne as alternatives.
