Flamengo have signed Kayke from ABC Club striker, a 27-year-old striker who came through the youth ranks at the Carioca club before globetrotting for several years and returning to play in Brazil’s Serie B.

The attacker, who spent time playing in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Portugal, expressed his happiness on returning to the club for whom he only played four professional games in his first spell: “I was playing for ABC, where I have had over 35 games this season and I know my playing time will depend on my performance,” he said. “My first thought is to reach out and help the club. I had offers from other clubs, but when the opportunity to put back on the Flamengo shirt presented itself, I did not hesitate.”

Kayke will likely be used as a back up option to Emerson Sheik, who at age 36 is unlikely to play every game, and could also stand in for Paolo Guerrero when the striker is on international duty with Peru early September.
