Serie A newcomers Carpi have completed the loan signing of Udinese midfielder Gabriel Silva.
The 24 year-old, who primarily plays on the left and can also cover at full-back, will remain with the top flight debutants until June 2016.
Silva’s move away from Udinese comes on the back of a frustrating 2014-15 campaign, where he made just eleven appearances in Serie A and 12 overall in all competitions.
Injuries played a part in his lack of action – he missed the first 13 rounds with a hamstring problem – and a switch to Carpi should offer him the chance to play more consistently.
Silva and Udinese will hope that he can recapture the form he showed during his first two seasons at the Friuli.
After arriving from Granada for a reported fee of €4 million in July 2012, he made 19 appearances for Udinese in his maiden season and followed that up with 39 in the 2013-14 campaign.
During that time, he established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising wing-backs, with a number of the league’s prestigious teams believed to be tracking him as a result, including Fiorentina.
His loss of playing time and fitness saw that interest dwindle, but should he recapture his form at Carpi, he could be in the frame for a big move once more.
