Walk down the famous Copacabana beach in the next few days and it is likely you will bump into Brazilian defender Doria.

The centre back is waiting to see if he will receive a contract offer from São Paulo after spending the second half of last season on loan at the club. Doria is officially a Marseille player but has not made a first team appearance for the French side since joining in September last year.

The 20 year old has now fallen out with the club and has resorted to training on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Doria is confident he will find another club soon as long as he keeps his fitness up. He is also still aiming to play in the Olympics next year after previously being captain of the Brazil Under 20 side.

“It is essential to keep in shape. An opportunity may arise at any time,” Doria told Globoesporte. “I must do everything necessary to be ready. In addition, the Olympics are approaching and I want to help Brazil win a gold medal.”
