Roma remain confident of securing a deal for Barcelona defender Adriano, according to reports.
The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that last season’s Serie A runners up have bid around €4 million for the Brazilian and that talks will continue in the coming days.
Barcelona are believed to want nearer €8 million to part with their man, while due to their current transfer ban, club President Josep Maria Bartomeu is said to want to retain Adriano until January, when they can once more register players.
Despite his reluctance, Di Marzio suggests Roma are optimistic that a solution can be found and are aiming to find an agreement before they meet Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday 5th August.
Adriano is contracted to Barça until June 2017 and despite winning 12 major honours with the club, he could be tempted by a move to Italy, where he would have a better chance of playing regularly.
Last season, the 30 year-old featured just 27 times in all competitions, scoring twice, while in the 2013/14 campaign he managed 38 appearances.
Roma have sold Greece international José Holebas to Watford and with the future’s of Ashley Cole and Maicon currently unclear, it is likely that Adriano is being targeted to come in as a starter.
