Tigres of Mexico defeated Brazilian side Internacional 3-1 on Wednesday to advance to the Copa Libertadores final for the first time.
Tigres erased a 2-1 loss in the first leg last week in Brazil, advancing 4-3 on aggregate to secure a spot in the final against River Plate. French striker André-Pierre Gignac opened the scoring for Tigres in the 18th minute, Internacional defender Géferson scored an own goal 4 minutes before halftime and midfielder Arévalo Ríos sealed the victory in the 56th. Argentine forward Lisandro López scored Inter’s lone goal in the 89th minute. Rafael Sóbis missed a second-half penalty for Tigres, when the score was 2-0.
