Manchester United’s Rafael will not be moving to Galatasaray
Rafael: on way out of Manchester United
Galatasaray have reportedly vetoed a possible move for Manchester United full-back Rafael, preferring instead to commit to Turkish defender Sabri Sarıoğlu, who was given a contract extention in mid June.
Rafael was injured for large parts of last season and boss Louis van Gaal’s has resolved to let him leave after signing Italian Matteo Darmian to fill the right-back slot.
Van Gaal told the Manchester Evening News that it was Darmian’s superior defensive work that made him a more solid choice than Rafael.
