At the age of just 18, Gabriel is set to play his 100th match for Santos this weekend against Figueirense.

The youngster has been part of the professional squad since 2013, when he joined at 16 years and four months of age, making him the third youngest player ever to start a professional game for the club behind Coutinho and Pelé. Billed as Santos’s top talent since Neymar’s departure, he showed his effectiveness last season as he finished as the club’s top scorer.

However, during 2015, he has found it tougher going, being considered as the Peixe’s fourth choice offensive solution behind Robinho, Ricardo Oliveira and Geuvânio. Since the departure of Robinho, though, he has returned to the starting line-up.
