Antalyaspor are ready to pursue a move for Milan defender Alex, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the newly-promoted Spor Toto Süper Lig outfit want to make Alex their latest notable purchase of the summer transfer window.

Veteran Cameroonian forward Samuel Eto’o is the standout new addition to date, while former Sunderland defender Ondřej Čelůstka and midfielder Chico have arrived from 1. FC Nürnberg and Coritiba, respectively.

Securing Eto’o is a major coup for Antalyaspor, but convincing Alex to join him in Antalya could be challenging.

The 33 year-old is contracted to Milan until June 2016, but has reportedly been told he can leave, as they look to rebuild under new Head Coach Siniša Mihajlović.

Alex’s former club Santos are already believed to have failed with a bid to secure him and whether Antalyaspor have the means to do a deal remains to be seen.

Alex was only signed by Milan in July 2014 from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, but struggled to make an impression in a difficult debut season.

In all competitions, he featured 23 times, scoring once, but an injury and regular adjustments from then Head Coach Filippo Inzaghi prevented him from playing consistently.
