Diego Forlán is set to return to Uruguay, having signed for Peñarol, the club he started his youth career with.
Forlán spent one season in the club’s youth system as an 11-year-old and went on to start his professional career with Independiente in Argentina, before later establishing himself in Europe. Forlán was a key player for the national team as they won the Copa América in 2011 and reached the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup. He was playing for Internacional in Brazil before spending the last 18 months with Cerezo Osaka in Japan.
