Chelsea have confirmed that midfielder Nathan will join Eredivisie outfit Vitesse on loan.

The Brazil under-20 international was only signed from Atlético Paranaense for a reported fee of €4.5 million earlier this month, but has been quickly moved on, presumably to gain first-team experience.

Nathan will stay with Vitesse until June 2016 and he will be joined by English forward Izzy Brown. Another Chelsea player, Lewis Baker, is also already at the club on loan.

Nathan first came to prominence with his performances at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The now 19 year-old scored five goals at that tournament and was voted as the winner of the Silver Ball – second best player during the competition – despite Brazil being knocked out in the quarter-finals by Mexico.

He would go on to make his debut for Atlético Paranaense in 2014 and featured 13 times for the Curitiba based club in total.

After playing for Brazil’s under-20 side at the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship, which was held across January and February in Uruguay, his future with Atlético become complicated due to issues over his contract and Chelsea eventually stepped in to resolve the dispute and take Nathan to Europe.

The Blumenau native is the only Brazilian who will currently play in Vitesse’s squad next season, but his arrival at Chelsea swells their contingent to seven.
