Internazionale Head Coach Roberto Mancini may contact Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo to try and convince him to join him in Milan, according to reports.

The website of respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Mancini sees Melo as potentially being a key part of his squad for the new season and wants to ensure he makes the switch.

Inter are believed to have held talks with Galatasaray over recent weeks, but have struggled to find an agreement.

By contacting Melo directly, they would be able to gauge how interested he is in joining Inter and from that could help speed up the process of securing him.

The 32 year-old has already played in Italy earlier in his career and had spells with Fiorentina and Juventus between July 2008 and August 2011, before moving on to Galatasaray.

He joined them initially on loan from Juventus and was eventually signed outright in August 2013 for a reported fee of €3.75 million.

During his time at Galatasaray, he worked under Mancini during the 2013-14 campaign and was part of a side that won the Turkish Cup that season.

The former Brazil international – capped 22 times between 2009 and 2010 – is believed to have been targeted by Inter as an alternative to French midfielder Giannelli Imbula, who left Marseille to join Porto, rather than move to Italy.
