Juventus have announced the capture of former Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto.

The 25 year-old has long been expected to make the controversial switch to the Serie A holders and it has now been confirmed that he has signed a four year deal.

Writing on the club’s official website, Juventus made known that they have signed Neto and included details of his agreement.

“Norberto Murara Neto has officially completed his move to Juventus, penning a four-year contract that keeps him with the club until 30 June 2019,” read the report.

“The Brazilian goalkeeper, 25, joins following four and a half seasons with Fiorentina where he displayed the credentials which have led the Bianconeri to recruit him as Gigi Buffon’s deputy.”

Neto’s arrival at Juventus will likely further antagonise the bitter rivalry between the Bianconeri and Fiorentina.

Very few players have made a switch between the two team’s in the past, while Neto himself was quoted in October 2014 saying that he would not move to Juventus.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN America, as reported by Football Italia, he said: “I’d never go there. My agent hasn’t said anything, but above all I wouldn’t go because that would be to betray the Viola fans.”

Neto had initially announced in January that he would not be renewing his contract with Fiorentina and that led to him being frozen out of the side.

An injury to his replacement, Ciprian Tătărușanu, allowed him to come back into the first-team however, and he would end the campaign having made 38 appearances in all competitions.

The reported €3.5 million signing from Atlético Paranaense in January 2011, is expected to be a reserve to Gianluigi Buffon at Juventus, following the departure of Marco Storari to Cagliari.
