Brazil crashed out of the Copa America last night with a quarter-final defeat by Paraguay in Concepcion, losing on penalties after drawing 1-1 in normal time.

Badly missing the suspended Neymar, Dunga’s men struggled during the first half but took the lead 15 minutes in through Robinho, whose easy finish from a Dani Alves cross turned out to be his side’s only touch in the opposition penalty area during the first 45 minutes.

In the second half the Paraguayans stepped up the pressure and equalised through a Derlis Gonzalez penalty after Thiago Silva’s handball.

Unlike 4 years ago when Brazil failed to score a single spot-kick, as they went out to the Paraguayans on penalties at the same stage of the competition, Fernandinho, Philippe Coutinho and captain Miranda converted for Dunga’s men. However misses from Everton Ribeiro and Douglas Costa meant Gonzalez’s conversion gave Paraguay a 4-3 win.
