Bayer Leverkusen are ready to compete to sign Internacional midfielder Charles Aránguiz, according to reports.

German sports magazine kicker Sportmagazin, as cited by website Flares and Fussball, claims that the Bundesliga outfit want to secure Aránguiz as a replacement for Gonzalo Castro, who has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund.

English Premier League outfits Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Manchester City, have also been linked with Aránguiz in recent months and with Internacional said to value him at around just €10 million, it is possible that other clubs may come into contention.

Aránguiz has come to the fore due to his excellent form at international level with Chile. After starring at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he has go on to impress for the hosts at this month’s Copa América.

In three appearances, he has contributed two goals and one assist, while he’s missed just five minutes of the tournament, so far.

The 26 year-old is expected to be key if Chile are to win the Copa América for the first time in their history and if they can achieve that on home soil, then Internacional may find it increasingly difficult to hold on to Aránguiz, as his stock increases.

The Brasileirão outfit only signed him outright from Universidad de Chile in August 2014, but he has made an immediate impression for them, scoring six goals in 34 appearances and being a part of a side that has won the 2014 and 2015 Campeonato Gaúcho.

Earlier in his career, Aránguiz also had success during his time with Universidad de Chile, where he won five honours, including the 2011 Copa Sudamericana.
