Brazil sealed their place in the last eight of the Copa America with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Venezuela.
Dunga’s team knew before the game that a draw would be good enough to progress but they went one better and ended up topping the group.
Brazil started at a fast pace and took the lead after nine minutes. A corner from Robinho found its way to Thiago Silva who volleyed home emphatically. The Seleção then doubled their advantage five minutes into the second half when Roberto Firmino swept home a cross from Willian.
Venezurela looked down and out but fought back and grabbed a consolation through Miku five minutes from time. The same player almost forced a draw but couldn’t cleanly connect with a cross when clean through.
Brazil will now play Paraguay in the quarter finals on Saturday. Victory in that game could potentially lead to an Argentina v Brazil semi final.
