According to UOL, São Paulo are determined to keep hold of Doria, the central defender who they are currently loaning from Marseilles.

The 20-year-old’s Doria loan will mature on June 30 and, with his contract at Marseilles due to run until 2019, it is likely the French club will want him to return.

São Paulo have, however, contacted the player and his agent and expressed their willingness to renew Doria’s contract. Jolden Vergette, who looks after the interests of the player, confirmed that his client wants to remain in his current club, having never yet been used by Marseilles boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Doria admitted he would like to stay but confirmed he does not yet know whether it will be possible. He said: “I cannot really know. I adapted well here and I was very well received. The coach helped me, but again, I cannot know. My contract here will end on 30 June, and a lot can happen in negotiations between São Paulo and Marseille. This is a situation that can alleviate my performance. “
