Flamengo sack Vanderlei Luxemburgo
Flamengo have sacked manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo after nearly 10 months in charge of Brazil's biggest club.
Luxemburgo's dismissal comes just three rounds into the Série A season, and on the heels of a controversial 2-1 loss at newly-promoted Avaí on Sunday. Flamengo currently sit 17th in the table, having earned just one point. The former Santos and Real Madrid coach took over last July, with the club occupying the bottom of the league table. Flamengo made an immediate rise under his command, finishing 10th in the standings, for which he was awarded a two-year contract in November.
