Internazionale Vice-President Javier Zanetti is hopeful of signing Thiago Motta back from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italy international – he was born in Brazil, but chose to represent the Azzurri – left Inter to join PSG in January 2012 for a reported fee of €11.5 million.

During his spell in Milan, he was part of a side that won numerous honours, including a Serie A title, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League treble under José Mourinho in the 2009-10 season.

For Zanetti, bringing Motta back to Inter would add some much needed experience to fairly young squad and help the club progress towards their aims.

“If Motta were to arrive, he could give so much,” he told Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by website Sky Sports.

“He knows the club, he has experience, quality and is one of the strongest midfielders that I have ever played with. He is very intelligent. To bring players like them would give us that leap in quality.”

Motta’s time at PSG has been as equally trophy-laden as his stint at Inter. With the Parisians, he has won seven domestic honours, including three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

This season, he has featured 36 times in all competitions, without scoring, while he is contracted to PSG until June 2016.
