Palmeiras forward Dudu has been given a six month suspension for pushing referee Guilherme Ceretta de Lima.

The incident happened during Palmeiras’ Campeonato Paulista Final against Santos, earlier this month.

Dudu had been sent off along with Peixe forward Geuvânio, after the two players had collided.

Following his dismissal, Dudu then subsequently pushed official Guilherme Ceretta de Lima from behind.

The match eventually ended 2-1 to Santos, who would secure the Paulistão with a 4-2 victory on penalties, with the score level at 2-2 on aggregate.

As well as Dudu, Palmeiras also have to contend with having Chile international Jorge Valdivia suspended due to comments he made about the referee, but will hope to see the former’s punishment adjusted with an appeal.

The club will likely cite Corinthians midfielder Petros, who had his ban dropped from six months to just three matches for a similar misdemeanour in 2014.

Dudu had been signed by Palmeiras from Dynamo Kyiv for a reported fee of €3 million in January. The 23 year-old, who has been capped twice by Brazil, scored five goals in 42 appearances whilst on loan at Grêmio last season.

With Palmeiras, he has so far featured twice in the 2015 Brasileirão, but is yet to net.
