Atlético Mineiro and São Paulo are set to compete to sign Internazionale full-back Jonathan Moreira, according to reports.

Website TuttoMercatoWeb, as cited by SempreInter, claims that the Brasileirão duo are leading the race to secure an agreement with Jonathan, who is out of contract at the end of June.

The 29 year-old has featured just five times in all competitions this season due to various injuries, including a knee problem, and is not expected to have his deal extended by Inter.

Both Atlético Mineiro and São Paulo would be able to accommodate him in their respective squads and his experienced would be welcome as both side’s look to build on a reasonable start to the 2015 Brasileirão season.

For Jonathan, seeing his contract expire will be a disappointing end to his time at Inter. Last term, he was ever-present under then Head Coach Walter Mazzarri and managed four goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

He had initially struggled with Inter after arriving from Santos for a reported fee of €5 million in July 2011 and was loaned out to Parma in January 2012.

Despite going on to impress with Inter last season, Jonathan has arguably played the best football of his career in Brazil. During his time with Cruzeiro and Santos, he won three Campeonato Mineiro titles, a Campeonato Paulista and the 2011 Copa Libertadores de América.
