Filipe Luís must feel that his time at Chelsea is cursed as the defender was on the receiving end of a thrashing at West Brom.

The 29 year old left back has only made 13 appearances in the league this year so must have been eager to grab his chance after a rare start at the Hawthorns. But instead it was the Baggies who raced to a 3-0 win over the champions.

West Brom took the lead early on through Saido Berahino and Chelsea responded well with Luís going close with a fierce free kick. But the Blues were then reduced to ten men after Cesc Fabregas got himself sent off by kicking the ball into a crowd of West Brom players during a break in play.

The reason for the disruption was because Diego Costa had got into a shoving match with Gareth McAuley. The burly striker was returning from a hamstring injury but couldn’t add to his 19 goals this season with Berahino and Chris Brunt adding further strikes for West Brom instead.
