Maxwell has conceded that Paris Saint-Germain ‘suffered a lot" this season.

The Parisiens secured the Ligue 1 title with a game to spare on Saturday, following a 2-1 win against Montpellier.

That victory is the third consecutive time Laurent Blanc’s side will lift L"Hexagoal, while this season they have also won the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophée des Champions.

To complete a historic quadruple, PSG must now beat Auxerre in the Final of the Coupe de France on 30th May.

For Maxwell, such an achievement would be a real statement for PSG, though he notes that this season has been tough for the club.

"It"s been a long season and tough mentally. We suffered a lot," he stated, as reported by website ca2015.

“But in the end, we deserved the title. Now we have to get the [Coupe de France]. We can create history."

Maxwell is out of contract in June 2016 and expected to play on next season. The 33 year-old, who was signed from Barcelona for a reported fee of €3.5 million in January 2012, retired from international football in October 2014, but has been a regular for PSG this term.

In all competitions, he has featured 39 times, scoring four goals, with his positional rival, Lucas Digne, only managing 23 appearances.
