Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders are set to sign attacking midfielder Thomás on loan from Flamengo, according to reports.

Website Sounders At Heart claims that a tweet was posted on Monday that pictured Thomás in Seattle Sounders’ offices, but it was eventually deleted.

Since then, reports have emerged that the 22 year-old – full name Thomás Jaguaribe Bedinelli – will join the Sounders on loan in the coming days.

Thomás made his first-team debut for Flamengo back in 2011, but has struggled to cement his place since and, as a result, has spent time away from the club on loan.

In August 2013, he was sent to Siena and managed 12 appearances for them, before returning to Flamengo in June 2014.

They then chose to loan him out once more, this time to Ponte Preta [August 2014], who he helped to earn promotion to the Brasileirão, with one goal in 13 matches.

Thomás’ deal with Ponte Preta was expected to run through until December, but he tweeted a goodbye message to them on Tuesday and it now seems likely that he will join up with Seattle.

If Thomás does make the move to the United States, then he will take up one of Seattle’s final three roster spots, as well as their last International Slot.
