Uruguay Head Coach Óscar Tabárez has named three Brasileirão-based players in his provisional squad for the 2015 Copa América.

Veteran Vasco da Gama goalkeeper Martín Silva, Grêmio loanee Cristian Rodríguez and Cruzeiro’s Giorgian De Arrascaeta are the players who ply their trade in Brazil that Tabárez has called upon.

The vastly experienced tactician has been forced to overlook Barcelona forward Luis Suárez due to his ongoing ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The defender’s Juventus team-mate Martín Cáceres is injured and misses out as a result, as does former Internacional striker Diego Forlán, who has retired from international football.

Tabárez has moved away from many of the stalwarts that have been ever-present during his tenure, with the ageing Diego Pérez and Diego Lugano not selected as part of this policy.

Amongst the new faces brought in are River Plate duo Camilo Mayada and Carlos Sánchez, while Gastón Silva of Torino, veteran uncapped goalkeeper Rodrigo Muñoz and Emiliano Velázquez are perhaps surprise inclusions.

Goalkeepers: Fernando Muslera [Galatasaray], Martín Silva [Vasco da Gama], Rodrigo Muñoz [Libertad]

Midfielders: Cristian Rodríguez [Grêmio], Egidio Arévalo Ríos [UANL], Walter Gargano [Napoli], Álvaro González [Torino], Nicolás Lodeiro [Boca Juniors], Giorgian De Arrascaeta [Cruzeiro], Camilo Mayada [River Plate], Guzmán Pereira [Universidad de Chile], Carlos Sánchez [River Plate]

Forwards: Edinson Cavani [Paris Saint-Germain], Christian Stuani [Espanyol], Abel Hernández [Hull City], Diego Rolán [Bordeaux], Jonathan Rodríguez [Benfica]
