Diego Alves: 'I was lucky to save Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty'
The Brazilian denied La Liga's leading scorer from 12 yards out, one of a number of saves to deny Los Blancos victory.
Valencia let a two-goal half-time lead slip, but Diego Alves was in no mood to rue missed opportunities after Madrid clawed their way back to a point. He said: "We weren’t nervous. It’s normal that we switched to two banks of four when we were 2-0 up. But they have the quality to create something out of nothing. The result was fair. The match was difficult, but I’m happier for the team than myself. We did well at a difficult venue. Penalty? I stood up and tried to be calm so I could spot his [Cristiano Ronaldo's] movement, but I was lucky."
