São Paulo started their Brasileiro season with a tough 2-1 win over Flamengo.

ALexandre Pato and Luis Fabiano grabbed the goals for the hosts who were galvanised by Paulo Henrique Ganso’s introduction at half time. Fabiano grabbed the first goal on 75 minutes and Pato the second five minutes later before Everton struck a late consolation for Flamengo.

Pato now has 12 goals in all competitions this season after previously scoring in the Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Paulista.

“For myself, I just want to play every game this year I would not accept being on the bench,” said Pato. “I’m in a good phase, I’m scoring goals and helping my team.”
