Cruzeiro have held talks with Milan over a possible move for forward Robinho, according to reports.

Lance!net, as cited by website Xinhuanet, claims that Cruzeiro officials are in direct contract with their Milan counterparts and negotiations are expected to continue over the coming days.

Robinho has been on loan at Santos since August 2014 and with that deal expiring in June, their had reportedly been talks over possibly extending that or even making the switch permanent.

Cruzeiro’s alleged interest will complicate Santos’ chances of retaining him and if they can offer Milan a satisfactory deal, then a move could be possible.

Robinho is not wanted by the Rossoneri, though they would likely prefer to sell him on permanently, rather than in another loan deal.

The 31 year-old, who they signed from Manchester City in August 2010 for a reported fee of €18 million, has performed admirably during his most recent spell with Santos and earned a recall to the Brazil national team on the back of his good form.

Last season, he managed four goals in 16 appearances, while this term he was named in the Team of the year for the 2015 Campeonato Paulista.

Another Santos player selected in that XI was forward Lucas Lima and Xinhuanet suggests that he, as well as Robinho, could also be a target for Cruzeiro.

The Celeste are looking to strengthen their squad, with the start of the new Brasileirão season and the Copa Libertadores de América knock-out stages coming up in the next few weeks and the duo would help cover the loss of Everton Ribeiro and Ricardo Goulart, who were sold to Al Ahli Club and Guangzhou Evergrande respectively.
