The ex-Arsenal ace ace says the Seleção should disregard their status as favourites to triumph in Chile and instead concentrate on Russia 2018.

The Seleção have bounced back from last year’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Germany with eight consecutive victories under new coach Dunga, emerging as favourites for the upcoming South American championship in Chile. Gilberto Silva won the continental title under Dunga in 2007 but he says that Brazil must focus on the long term. He told GOAL: “We shouldn’t think about being favourites for Copa América. We have to think about being prepared for the next World Cup. What is most important, disregarding the results, is that Brazil can display some good football, because we’ll have the World Cup qualifiers next and they’ll be as difficult as the Copa América.”
