Chelsea remain on track to secure a deal for Atlético Paranaense midfielder Nathan, according to reports.

Terra, as cited by Sport Witness, claimed on Monday that the transfer would be finalised this week, with Nathan set to be in London to complete the outstanding paperwork and undergo a medical on Tuesday.

Terra goes on to suggest that Chelsea will pay around €7.6 million for the 19 year-old, who featured for Brazil’s under-20 side at the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship at the start of the year and has made 13 appearances for Atlético Paranaense’s first-team.

Nathan’s likely departure from the Brasileirão outfit has become a drawn-out affair due a wrangle over his contract.

His agreement with the Furacão was due to expire in March and a clause allowing the club to invoke a two-year option had been challenged by Nathan’s father and agent José Carlos de Souza, who, according to website tribal football, wanted his son to be able to negotiate with other teams.

That disagreement was eventually taken to the courts after José Carlos de Souza’s reported offer of around €2.8 million to release Nathan was rejected by Atlético, though Chelsea’s decision to step in with a proposal has seemingly resolved the issue.

The Fulham based club are believed to have beaten Manchester City to secure a deal, while the likes of Real Madrid, Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be keen.
