Brazilian duo David Luiz and Thiago Motta are considered doubtful for Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Barcelona, according to reports.

The two players were forced off injured during PSG’s 3-2 win over Marseille at Stade Vélodrome on Sunday and Head Coach Laurent Blanc conceded after the contest that both have muscle-related issues.

“They"re muscle problems, which is not very reassuring," he said, as reported by website ESPN FC.

“Those injuries can be explained by many things. I think the scheduling of this game was not the best of ideas. It would have been better before the international break.

“We got our full squad back on Friday. It was the same for the Marseille [Head] Coach [Marcelo Bielsa]. So people should not be surprised to have injuries. You have to think about players and those involved before thinking of anything else."

ESPN FC suggests that both Luiz and Motta will undergo examinations on Monday to ascertain how long they will both be unavailable and whether they will miss the tie with Barcelona at Parc des Princes on Wednesday 15th April.

Given that Blanc has already confirmed that the duo have muscle injuries, it is almost certain however, that they will not be fit for PSG’s next two fixtures, against Saint-Étienne in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France on Wednesday and Bastia in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue on Saturday.
