Midfielder Blaise Matuidi has admitted the loss of David Luiz and Thiago Motta to injury is ”distressing” for Paris Saint-Germain, despite Sunday’s Ligue 1 win at Marseille.
The title holders secured a 3-2 victory at Stade Vélodrome to move a point clear of Lyon at the top of the standings, but may have to do without two of their key players for the immediate future.
Brazilian born duo David Luiz and Thiago Motta were forced off during a tightly-fought contest with Marseille and, Speaking to Canal+, Matuidi concedes PSG could struggle in their absence.
“It was not easy to win this game,” he said, as reported by website GOAL. “In this game, unfortunately, we lost two players. For the rest of our season, it is distressing.
“Otherwise, we are very happy to win here against a good Marseille team. It was important to take the top spot.
“But it will be hard to win this league right until the end.”
Luiz and Motta have been ever-present for PSG so far this season. The former, who was signed from Chelsea for a reported fee of €49.5 million in July 2014, has scored five times in 37 appearances, while Motta has featured 33 times.
