Sampdoria Eder was happy to score on his debut appearance for Italy.

The 28 year-old netted a late equaliser to secure the Azzurri a 2-2 draw with Bulgaria and after facing a lot of controversy over his selection, he was pleased to prove his worth on the pitch.

“It was a shame about what was said, but I respect Mancini’s opinion and many others like Oriundi in the Nazionale,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.

“I think a call-up can happen and it’s hard to stay in this squad. I must thank the lads, as they gave me a warm welcome and made me feel important from my first day at Coverciano. I hope to play more games for Italy.”
