Corinthians Head Coach Tite has hailed defender Gil following his call up to the Brazil national team.

The centre-back, who has been capped three times at international level, was drafted into the Seleção squad, for the friendlies with France and Chile later this month, after Paris Saint-Germain duo David Luiz and Marquinhos and Shandong Luneng Taishan forward Diego Tardelli pulled out.

Gil has been a mainstay for Corinthians during their unbeaten start to the 2015 Copa Libertadores and Tite believes he has all the capabilities to be a real asset to Head Coach Dunga.

“Gil is a great listener. You tell him what to do and he goes onto the pitch and does it,” he said as reported by Xinhua, as cited by The Statesman.

“He has improved his passing and the aerial aspect of his game. He’s also good one-on-one. He is hungry to improve and we are hoping he does well.”

Gil was signed by Corinthians from Valenciennes FC for a reported fee of €3.5 million in January 2013. Since then, he has made 85 appearances, scoring four times.

The 27 year-old was not the only player Dunga added to his squad to cover the absentees. Arsenal’s Gabriel Paulista and Shakhtar Donetsk forward Luiz Adriano were also called up.
