Fluminense came on top in the derby against Botafogo at the Maracanã stadium in the Carioca Championship on Sunday.
19-year-old winger Kenedy, and 17-year-old Gérson, both reported targets of European clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Juventus, started for Fluminense and got on the score sheet in a 3-1 victory. Kenedy found the net with a sweet finish with his left-foot after being left unmarked inside the box, while Gérson showed enormous strength for a 17-year-old to shrug off the defender and hit the back of the net with a fine strike from the edge of the box. Fred was the other goal-scorer and the veteran praised both Kenedy and Gérson insisting they should ignore the interest from Europe and should continue to grow in Fluminense.
