Garth Crooks: 'Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho can fill Gerrard's boots'The man to replace Gerrard?
Former Tottenham striker and BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes Philippe Coutinho has the ability to fill the boots of Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool legend Gerrard is leaving the club at the end of this season and Crooks is confident Coutinho can help in his absence.
“What is interesting - since the departure of Luis Suarez and the reduction in Steven Gerrard's first-team appearances pending his exit - is that Philippe Coutinho is starting to look commanding in midfield,” the 56-year-old wrote on BBC Sport. “Coutinho might be the man to fill Gerrard's boots after all.”
The 22 year old still has a long way to go to equal Gerrard's achievements but he won't lack the confidence.
