Brazil legend Ronaldo is preparing to commence his bid to make a playing comeback in America, according to his fitness coach.
Although the 38-year-old has not played professionally since 2011, he is set to embark on a training regime that he hopes will end in him playing for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The former Barcelona and Real Madrid star is a minority stake-holder in the US outfit, who play in the North American Soccer League – the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. Fitness coach Marcio Atalla explains: “He is motivated. As a man who has always set himself challenges, he now wants to play. For now we are planning everything carefully because if he pushes too hard he could hurt himself.”
Having suffered with knee injuries during his career, the Brazilian will initially look to build muscle mass – especially on his legs – to allow him to return to intense physical activity with the aim of eventually shedding 10 kilograms.
