Shakhtar striker Luiz Adriano has backed current Brazil captain Neymar to go on and beat Pelé"s all-time scoring record for Brazil.
The Barcelona forward already has 42 international goals to his name at the age of just 23 and looks well capable of eclipsing Pelé"s total of 77. Luiz Adriano was quoted in MARCA: “Neymar is an excellent player and has great qualities. He has everything in his favour to reach that mark."
Adriano also insists that he didn"t take being overlooked for the 2014 World Cup personally. He told: “It didn’t hurt me. The Professor [Scolari] decided to call up players with more experience. Everybody has their moment. Mine arrived in those two friendlies against Turkey and Austria and now I’ve got to keep working to get more opportunities. Everyone helped me and gave me the support I needed in my first match. I think I did well; I moved a lot, was quite involved in the play and I almost scored a goal. It was an excellent debut for me."
