Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has insisted he won’t celebrate if he scores against Chelsea.

The Brazil international – capped 47 times – will likely feature against his former employees when they face PSG at Parc des Princes in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg on Tuesday.

Luiz scored an own goal when playing for Chelsea in the same fixture at the Quarter-final stage last season – a 3-1 win for PSG – and the 27 year-old is eager for his new club to progress, after ultimately losing out to the Blues last time out.

“I want to qualify, like I qualified last year, but I want to qualify for PSG,” he said, as reported by FIFA’s official website.

“Last year I scored my first goal for PSG. If I score against Chelsea I don’t celebrate for respect, but I will be happy.”

PSG parted with a reported fee of €49.5 million when they signed Luiz from Chelsea in July 2014.

Despite such a hefty price tag, he is determined to not let it weigh him down.

“It’s not for me to talk about price or things like that,” he stated. “I just need to show my football every day and show my job for the club.”

Luiz, who has scored twice in 29 appearances so far this season, is expected to partner fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva in central defence against Chelsea.
