Laurent Blanc has been full of praise for Marquinhos after the young defender’s impressive performaces in the right back position in recent weeks.
The comments came shortly after reports that rival teams such as Manchester United are still interested in the 20 year old. Blanc may not only have boosted the player’s confidence, he may have sent a message to other sides to keep their hands off.
“Marqui has been brilliant, centre and right. He has shown he is very versatile. To have players who can play in several positions, especially with our schedule, is very important. Marquinhos has a lot of quality and he will play games, not always in the same position.”
It remains to be seen if the Brazilian will remain in the starting line up when Chelsea visit in the Champions League next week.
