Anderson may have left England behind but he might find it harder to shake off the attention of the infamous British press.
Following the midfielder’s penalty miss on his debut for Internacional, Anderson was the subject of a number of taunting stories. The Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail were the main instigators.
The Mirror described the incident as being almost a foregone conclusion. After describing the lead up to the penalty and the fact Anderson had picked up the ball to take it they simply put, “you can probably guess what happened”.
The Daily Mail described it as “a debut to forget”.
Let’s hope Anderson can prove them wrong in the coming months.
