Diego Costa believes the togetherness of the current Chelsea squad compares favourable to what he experienced at Atlético de Madrid.

The forward, who was signed from Los Rojiblancos for a reported fee of €38 million in July 2014, sees similarities between the successful Atlético side that he was a part of and Chelsea and suggests they have the right attitude to reach their targets.

"There is a great sense of unity in the squad, similar to what we had at Atlético last season [when the team won La Liga and reached the UEFA Champions League Final]," he said, as reported by The Guardian. "We all want the same thing, and we all have the same work ethic. You need that to be successful as a group."

Costa has quickly settled at Chelsea and despite a recent suspension, has managed to net 17 goals in 27 appearances so far this season.

Part of his success can be attributed to the contributions of Cesc Fàbregas, who has provided 20 assists for his team-mates this term.

For Costa, his fellow Spain international is vital to Chelsea.

"It has helped me having players like Cesc here, someone I knew [from Spain] but also a player who reads my movements and provides me with so many opportunities," he stated. "He has a real gift for passing."

Costa started out in Europe with Braga, before moving to Atlético in July 2007 for a reported fee of €1.5 million. He went on to have spells with Celta de Vigo, Albacete, Real Valladolid, who temporarily signed him outright, and Rayo Vallecano, before coming to prominence back at Atlético in the 2012/13 season, with a return of 20 goals in 43 appearances. He then followed that up with 36 in 51 last term.
