Fernandinho has issued a rallying cry to his team mates ahead of the crunch clash with Chelsea this weekend.

The Brazilian midfielder has warned Chelsea that City will be a force to be reckoned with even without their influential midfielder Yaya Toure. Toure is currently at the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast and City have struggled in his absence. But Fernandinho thinks there is enough talent in place for City to pick up three vital points.

“We have others who can play in his position and do a great job as well. Whether it’s me, Frank, Fernando, James Milner or whoever, it doesn’t matter.
“We don’t depend on one player to be at our best. We are a strong team that has coped without certain players before and we will do it again.

Fernandinho has also praised veteran midfielder Frank Lampard as the 36 year old prepares to face his former club.

“He has an instinct that only a few players have, and he uses it so well. There is a lot all of us can learn from Frank and we are just enjoying having him as part of our team.”
