Gary Cahill has defended Diego Costa after the striker received a viloent conduct charge from the FA for stamping.
Costa faces a three match ban after appearing to stamp on Emre Can of Liverpool in the Carling Cup semi final on Tuesday. The 26 year old has been criticized in the media for the incident. Costa is appealing the charge and Cahill believes the stamp was just an accident due to the forward’s aggressive playing style.
“It’s a strength he has. You have seen how good he is with his feet and how skilful he is for a big guy but the way he has adapted to the Premier League – he is a physical guy.”
