Chelsea midfielder Willian has made the startling claim that playing for Chelsea is a lot less stressful than playing for Corinthians.
The 26 year old started his career at Corinthians in 2006 and insists the crowd there are harder to please than in London.
“It depends on each fan. There was more pressure at Corinthians though,” Willian told Esporte, “But there were differences with both teams, positive and negative. At Corinthians, when the team is playing well, you’re in heaven, when the team is not, the crowd build up pressure. Here the crowd is more cautious, as if you were in a theatre.”
Willian has played in 31 of Chelsea’s 35 games this season and is looking forward to next month’s Champions League tie against Paris SG. Even if it means playing against some Brazilian friends.
“David Luiz is a great friend of mine, and others also: Thiago Silva, Maxwell, Lucas, Marquinhos. But from the moment the referee blows the whistle, everyone has to defend their colours”.
