Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho has the potential to become ‘an outstanding player’ at Anfield, according to former Reds legend Terry McDermott.

The 22-year-old is becoming a focal point for Brendan Rogers’ side, who travel to Chelsea tonight for the Capital One Cup semi final second leg.

“He is improving. He can do everything. The one thing lacking is goals – he needs to score more goals,”
McDermott told Anfield 306 – Added Time.

“He’s got an engine, he’s quick and he goes past people. He is only 22 and he will get better. If he does, you’ve got a real player on your hands. He is going to be an outstanding player for many years for Liverpool.”
