Head Coach Cristóvão Borges has confirmed that Fluminense have received an offer from China for midfielder Darío Conca.

The bid, believed to have been made by Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai SIPG, is claimed by Borges to be too good to refuse, while the tactician also concedes that a proposal was always likely due to Conca’s delayed image rights payments, which happened as a result of investment group Unimed’s split from Fluminense.

“The proposal (from China) is very good, can not refuse,” said Borges, as reported by website China. “This is a possibility that has existed since the end of the contract with Unimed.”

Conca is reported by Globo Esporte to have flown back to Brazil separately to hear Shanghai SIPG’s proposal, following the conclusion of Fluminense’s training camp in the United States on Monday and an agreement to take him back to China is believed to be close.

Conca first moved to the CSL in July 2011, when Guangzhou Evergrande signed him from Fluminense for a reported fee of €8.2 million.

The 31 year-old, who had previously been at River Plate and Universidad Católica, won six major honours and numerous individual accolades with the Southern China Tigers, before returning to Fluminense in January 2014 on a free transfer.

If Conca makes the move to Shanghai SIPG, his Head Coach will be Sven-Göran Eriksson and he will join fellow Brazilian Davi, who has been signed from Guangzhou R&F.
