Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva is interested in a switch to Internazionale, according to reports.

ESPN, as cited by website Football Italia, claims that the 28 year-old is disappointed at falling out of favour last season and at the start of the current campaign and is open to moving on, despite his recent run in the first-team.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has however, insisted that Lucas will not be allowed to leave in the current transfer window, regardless of Inter’s reported interest.

The Nerazzurri, along with his former club Grêmio and Napoli, have been frequently paired with the Brazil international – capped 24 times – over recent weeks and the speculation continues to persist, despite Rodgers’ denials.

After signing Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri on loan from Arsenal and Bayern Munich respectively, Inter are believed to be keen on adding a holding midfielder.

Atlético de Madrid’s Mario Suárez has been linked, alongside Lucas, but it seems Inter are more confident of landing the latter, with website Express suggesting Suárez could be Arsenal bound.

Indeed, that report also speculates that Lucas may even be pursued by Atlético as a possible replacement.
